Scottish pianist Connor Wilcox, currently completing his doctoral studies at the Royal Irish Academy of Music under Anthony Byrne and Denise Neary, brings Chopin’s masterful 24 Preludes to life in this intimate recital. With recent performances at the Boyle Arts Festival, the National Concert Hall's John Field Room, and St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, Connor has established himself as a versatile and expressive interpreter, equally at home in the music of Bach, the Romantic masters, and beyond.
Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28, composed between 1835 and 1839, represent a milestone in piano literature. Each prelude is a miniature world, some stormy and dramatic, others meditative and lyrical, covering all major and minor keys in a sequence based on the circle of fifths.
