Rachel Talbot

Rachel Talbot is Head of Vocal, Opera, and Drama Studies at TU Dublin Conservatoire. She has performed as a soprano soloist in oratorio and early music with ensembles such as Il Rossignolo, The Douglas Gunn Ensemble, and Dublin Viols. She has appeared in recital at the Dún Laoghaire International Organ Festival, Richmond Recital Series in London, and Limerick Recital Series. A former member of Chamber Choir Ireland and Opera Ireland Chorus, she was also a vocal tutor to the choristers of St. Patrick’s Cathedral Dublin for thirteen years.

Rachel holds a PhD from TU Dublin and has led research projects, including the Erasmus+ BRAVO project on visionary European women in opera and the ARISE project documenting 21st-century operatic innovation in Ireland. She has published in the Journal of the Society for Musicology in Ireland and the Encyclopaedia of Music in Ireland. She has directed student opera productions at Rathdown Opera Ensemble and TU Dublin Conservatoire.
